July 4th Weekend

July 4th, is usually my favorite holiday ever! It's like the epitome of summer. It's always warm, you spend most of the day outside, and fireworks fascinate me. However, July 4th happens to be the birthday of a certain boy who crushed my heart, and also the day my grandpa died. On Sunday, my grandpa lost his battle and went out with a bang. Nice firework display Grandpa!

This is me, my grandpa, and my dad this past Father's Day. Notice his smile? When I came to visit him in the hospital and at his house he always smiled and said "thank you" when I took a picture with him. I wasn't that close to him, but it makes me feel good that I could make him smile during a difficult time.

On to the good part of my holiday weekend. My job rocks! I know I have said this before, but it is sooo damn true. Hot Dog on a Stick is the best job there ever was and ever will be. Dave was a genius man. I bet him and my grandpa will have plenty to talk about up there. Why is my job so great you ask? Well there are a million and one reasons, but right now I am feeling grateful because of the girls I work with. They have all taught me so much and I love them all! My boyfriend, Nick and his family always go up to Viva Lake Knotten in Wyoming for the 4th of July. I of course had to work and couldn't come. Nick was super bummed and asked my assistant Mardi, to take my shift so I could go. She was so ready to take it and was excited for me. My co-workers are like my sisters. We care about each others lives outside of work. I want all my friends to go to every high school dance, and take time off if they're feeling sick, or run away to Wyoming for the weekend, and they all feel the same way. We come together to cover shifts if a sister needs it. It just makes my heart feel warm and fuzzy knowing I get to call those girls my friends. I am still praising God for this job, 4 years later! God. Is. Good!

Wyoming was so pretty. There was just so much land and wildlife everywhere. I saw a gazillion antelope, cows, moose, bunnies, birds, and bugs. Luckily we got to stay in a trailer so I didn't have to straight up "rough it." It was still pretty intense though. I was more than happy to come home to my bed and house! Did I mention this was my first time camping, EVER? The best part of the trip (besides spending so much time with my boy!) was the cool fireworks which are so illegal here, but so un-illegal there!:) The fireworks shot up over the lake so you could see the fireworks in the sky, and the reflection on the lake, so beyond cool!

I'm camping!

I don't have photoshop, nor do I know how to edit images, that is straight up God's painting in the sky, so pretty right?

I've ALWAYS wanted to carve my name in a tree like this. SO STOKED!

Beautiful!

I only got bit by mosquitoes twice! I did get sunburned, but ate delicious food, and s'mores! On Saturday my blood sugar dropped to 64 so I spent the day in the trailer watching Employee of the Month while Nick went hunting. But it was fun to be out of the sun and take a nap. I'm taking summer classes, so I haven't been able to really go on a real vacation this year. It was such a fun getaway, I'm super glad I got to go. LOVE YOU MARD!

We came home on Sunday because I couldn't get that day off. I went to work then came home and played with my cousin at the park. One day if (yes I said IF) I have kids, I want them to be as cute and sweet as her.

We rode every dang slide that play ground had to offer! She even let me sit on her lap for some of the slides, SO CUTE!

She loved the swings too! I swear she was on just that swing for an hour!

I learned swings make me feel sick. *Note to self: take a Dramamine before the swings next time. Dang, I'm getting old..

Hope you all had a fab weekend!

  1. There really are some good people left in this world Lac. Granted they are few and far between. Hold on tight to those friendships! Just remember one thing when you think about your grandpa.....he is no longer hurting. That beautiful sky in your picture that you say is gods work? Grandpa gets to LIVE in that picture now. Love ya babe!
