Saturday morning was eventful, but I felt fine. I did a walk for Cure Search, then NAMI. When I got home, I took a nap. When I woke up I was feeling pretty nauseous. I checked my blood sugar, it was 71. I'm pretty sensitive to low sugars though so I attributed my feeling sick to this. I tried to eat some food, but the nausea was overwhelming. I took two bites and then the vomiting began. Around 8pm-10pm on Saturday night was pure vomiting. I tried valium because I thought it was related to anxiety, but with no relief my mom decided to take me to the ER. It was a full moon after all so it was very busy (greeat.)
I was so so sick. I had thrown up so much that I was mostly just heaving and it was oooooh so painful. Thanks to all my time as a volunteer in that ER I gained some valuable friendships and I was bumped up and got a room pretty quickly after I was triaged. It's not what you know, it's who you know;) After the IV was in a Wesminster alum gave me lots and lots of zofran (thanks dude). Only too bad because I threw that up too. And SUPER bad because the med resident was a HOTTIE and I was obviously not looking my best. Too bad. Maybe he'll go all HIPPAA violation and call me, maybe;) At this time I was having lots of diarrhea as well and um..I'll let you figure out how that happened..(not pretty). My heart was in the 140's and BP 80's/60's. For my non-nursing friends those numbers aren't very good. They had given me 4L of fluid but my pulse wasn't coming down. They were worried about septic shock so they admitted me.
At 6AM I finally got up on the floor. Thank goodness I got some phenergan within this point and was able to sleep a bit. I don't remember much of Sunday because I slept a lot . It was mostly spent emailing teachers or calling bosses. I do remember lots of doctors coming in and telling me I would be spending the night again.
This morning I woke up feeling so.much.better. Except for my chest. I sprained my sternal muscles from all the barfing. OUCH. Then I thought I was going to go home when the nurse hooks me up to potassium. Another OUCH. That shiz burrrns.
So what was wrong? Well, they don't know (story of my medical life). It was probably viral enterocolitis and since I have microscopic colitis I reacted badly and was hospitalized when normal people wouldn't be. OR I have an underlying immunologic disorder. Woo.
Thanks for all your love and concern, I'm home now! I'm feeling much better, though not great. My chest is really bothering me and I pretty much take nausea medication around the clock.
I'm sorry dear! I hope you get feeling better soon!!!
ReplyDeletescary!! =( i'm sorry girl!
ReplyDeleteholy crap... that is scary business! real glad you're home and ok.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry! I hope you don't have UC and that they find nothing in your colonoscopy. The prep is the worst part! yuck lol potassium hurts sooo much going in.. if you ever have to get it again try a warm towel over your arm while it is going in. That seemed to help a little.. not enough but a little!
