The Flood

On Tuesday I was looking forward to getting off work so I could go home, take a nap, work on some craft projects, and buy a laptop. If you remember it rained like a beezy on Tuesday July 26th and I was not dressed appropriately! I ran to my car dripping wet and freezing. As I'm about to start my ignition, my mom calls. She told me "YOU CANNOT COME HOME." This is why:

Look at how saturated the carpet is!

By the time I could come home it looked like a disaster area. There were disaster trucks, news trucks, people outside, and families helping everyone out everywhere!

There was (still is) mud EVERYWHERE! And it was thick. Like inches thick! The disaster team said the water that came through was "black water" which I believe is the worst water you could have flood because of the contents that could be in it. YUCK!

So where are we now? We live in a smelly (from the nasty water), noisy (from the fans constantly going) house. Murray City is not taking the blame and Salt Lake County isn't paying. Our insurance guy is in China, convenient I know, but the possibility of mold is terrifying so we're trying to think of safety and figure out the money later. The disaster guys said we need new foundation down stairs and in our garage, new flooring, baseboards, and carpet, our TV is dead and so is my Xbox. Our central air still works, but our washer/dryer, furnace, and water heater might need to be replaced also. Oh and our garage door buckled under the pressure of the water so we need one of those too!
