You how there are some sayings you love and some you loathe? Either it doesn't make sense, or it's just plain dumb? Like "same difference" or "kill two birds with one stone"? Maybe I'm in a slightly cynical mood, but really, both of those sayings irk me (how's that for a Halloween word? "irk" ooooh ya!). Then there's the ones that get us through the every day and you recite or think about often. For example,"in the end everything is ok. If it's not ok, then it's not the end." :) But back to one I've never understood/drives me NUTS: "sticks and stones may break my bones, but words could never hurt me." Really? Who in the heavens thought that one up? Trust me on this one, I've had [several] broken bones and a broken heart, and my bones healed waaaaay faster. On top of that ibuprofin, tylenol, lortab, all that works wonders on a broken nose, but doesn't touch a broken heart. Worst. Saying. Ever! If you ask me, words are the most powerful weapon of all.
Speaking of broken hearts...this one time, I liked a boy. He was the first boy after Spencer that I liked. That I thought could be my boyfriend. He was so unbelievably nice to me. And soo sweet. He gave me hope. He showed me that I would be ok without dumb ass. It was nice!..for about two weeks. Then reality set in and apparently he's not all that nice. Or all that Christian despite what his [stupid] tattoo and [even stupider] necklace might tell you. So he disappears (on Christmas no less) and I cry. Then one random Saturday night, nearly a year later he shows up. What's more, he wants to speak to me! You think I should give you a second to talk..to ME!? Ok, so I'm mostly talk and a sucker for those blue eyes so I listen. And you cry, and I melt. And we hug. Happy Ever After? Lacy Leonard? You betcha. Which would be true, if Cory wasn't a boy. That "heartfelt" apology lasted for about a month, roughly. I'm not sure why you would even waste your breathe with words you'll never mean. Seriously, save the O2 man. In the words of my bf Taylor, there is no use defending words you will never say.
Where does this rage come from you might be wondering? Unfortunately we share the same circle of friends so this cat pops up more often than I'd like him to. Turns out, it's not actually the Cory I know though. Nope, this Cory swears like a sailor and drinks like one too. Met him. Hate him.
If I could, I would like to add to that little list of mine and say this: Mean what you say. If you don't mean it, don't say it. It's so much harder to take something back once it has been said. Sounds like a time for a lovely saying such as, "some things are better left unsaid"...like apologies that mean nothing.
You can fake your way through the hearts of many, but you can't fool God. Nope, you can't even hide your thoughts from Him. God is Love, but God is just. If you actually attended church once in awhile, you'd learn some pretty neat things. Like forgiveness. And kindness. You should try it some time?
It's times like these I sort of wish karma would hurry it up a bit, ya know?
On the bright side, this fury fueled my fire! I wrote a song on the piano in about 30 minutes. Pretty incredible if you ask me!
I love everything about this post! lol it's like a good movie... it's got heartbreak, revenge, forgiveness, slight happiness, and a whole lotta woman! (strong woman that is) ;)
